Abstract:
Synthesis and Characterization of New Cyclic Silanes Reductive coupling of di‐ and trifunctional chlorosilanes under selected conditions leads to a significant amount of cyclic, catenated and cage polysilanes. The resulting mixtures were isolated by a scale‐up to a preparative grade using RP‐HPLC and RP‐LPLC methods. Properties of several permethyloligosilanes are discussed and a general pathway for separation is given. The isolated compounds have been characterized by spectroscopic methods. Remarkably, there exists a definitive order of retention on non‐polar phases due to the amount of silicon atoms and geometric factors.
