Abstract:
Anthony Giddens’ Theorie der Strukturbildung wird als ein Versuch gedeutet, Motive der marxistischen Praxisphilosophie in eine umfassende soziologische Theorie zu transformieren. Im ersten Teil werden knapp die Entwicklungsschritte von Giddens’ Denken nachgezeichnet und wesentliche Charakteristika seiner heutigen Theorie (Handlungsbegriff, Kritik des Funktionalismus und Evolutionismus, Theorie der Zeitlichkeit und der Macht) herausgearbeitet. Im zweiten Teil wird kritisch zu zeigen versucht, daß ein anthropologisches Defizit von Giddens’ Theorie Schwächen seiner Zeitlichkeits-Theorie erklärt. Außerdem wird seine Kritik des Evolutionismus durch Verweise auf eine nichtteleologische Geschichtsphilosophie relativiert, die der Gefahr eines Zerfalls der historischen Analyse in unverbundene Teilgeschichten entgeht.
