Abstract:
Forty-one human atheromata and 15 emboli were imaged with protease-sensing activatable probes. The authors cross-correlated the molecular imaging data with conventional anatomic imaging data, prospectively collected clinical registry data, and histopathologic data. They demonstrate that plaque vulnerability can be assessed by means of molecular imaging, which complements and adds to traditional anatomic information.
