Abstract:
In the title solvated molecular salt, C 12 H 14 N 3 + ·Cl − ·CHCl 3 , the aromatic rings of the cation are nearly coplanar [dihedral angle = 6.30 (5)°] and an intramolecular N—H...N hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, the chloride ion accepts an N—H...Cl hydrogen bond from the cation and a C—H...Cl interaction from the solvent molecule. These trimeric units are linked by cation-to-anion C—H...Cl interactions into chains that propagate in the [001] direction.
