Abstract:
Pflanzenhybride zeigen verglichen mit ihren reinerbigen Eltern oft besseres Wachstum, ausgedehntere Blütezeiten, höhere Erträge und stärkere Widerstandsfähigkeit. Dieser als Heterosis bezeichnete Effekt wird schon seit Generationen in der Landwirtschaft und Pflanzenzucht genutzt. Aber erst seit vergleichende Genom‐ und Transkriptomanalysen von Eltern und Nachkommen möglich sind, verbessert sich das Verständnis der zugrundeliegenden genetischen, biochemischen und physiologischen Ursachen. Das kann helfen, günstige Kombinationen für neue Hybridsorten vorherzusagen.
