Abstract:
Band recovery rates of black brant doubled between the 2000s and 2010s; however, we found that, of the major harvest regions, recovery rates have increased most in Alaska and least in Mexico. In aggregate 57–60% of band recoveries are from Izembek Lagoon and Cold Bay, Alaska; Humboldt Bay, California; and Bahia San Quintin, Mexico; therefore, accurate population estimations using Lincoln's estimator could likely be derived from hunter bag checks at these areas.
