Abstract:
A identificação humana realizada através da perícia dentária é apontada como uma técnica importante e de grande eficácia para solucionar casos de crimes e acidentes, principalmente por causa do elevado número de crimes que acontecem na sociedade contemporânea, além de ser um processo de baixo custo para identificar suspeitos. Assim sendo, quando há marcas de mordidas humanas em vítimas de violência física, essas são provas personalizadas relativas ao autor do crime. Diante desse contexto, o objetivo do trabalho foi realizar um estudo de caso sobre a condenação de Ted Bundy, assim como a investigação, a produção de provas e contribuição da odontologia forense nesses tipos de caso. Sendo assim, a metodologia adotada no trabalho tem como base a pesquisa bibliográfica, com abordagem qualitativa e descritiva, o tipo de pesquisa também usado foi o estudo de caso. A parte teórica envolve o uso de materiais, como livros, artigos, encontrados em sites de buscas, como: Scielo, Pubmed, Lillacs e Medline, indexados entre os anos de 1980 a 2021. Concluiu-se que as marcas de mordidas podem ser usadas como provas periciais, como no caso de Ted Bundy, que são relevantes os indícios, por apresentarem propriedades exclusivas da arcada dentária do transgressor. Dessa forma, é uma técnica usada pela Odontologia Forense, realizada com a moldagem da mordida sendo eficiente, além de ter baixo custo e de trazer ampla celeridade na investigação criminal, inclusive para a obtenção e exercício da justiça.
