Abstract:
Objetivo: explorar la asociación entre índice de masa corporal y hemoglobina materna con el peso al nacer. Materiales y métodos: estudio retrospectivo. Se seleccionaron 336 historias clínicas de gestantes, en las cuales se analizó la asociación entre peso al nacer con hemoglobina e índice de masa corporal maternos durante los tres trimestres de gestación. Resultados: la mayor proporción de neonatos con peso 〈 3.000 g fueron de madres con IMC bajo, con número significativo en el segundo (p = 0,0468) y tercer trimestre (p = 0,0126) de gestación. Se encontró correlación positiva y significativa entre peso al nacer y el IMC materno, en el primero (r = 0,19; p = 0,025), segundo (r = 0,240; p = 0,0000) y tercer trimestre (r = 0,254; p = 0,000). No se halló correlación del peso al nacer con la hemoglobina materna en ninguno de los tres trimestres de gestación: primero(r = 0,009; p = 0,900), segundo (r = 0,011; p = 0,889) y tercero (r = 0,005; p = 0,943). Tampoco se encontraron diferencias significativas del peso del recién nacido entre las madres con anemia (Hb 〈 11 g/dL) y sin anemia (Hb 〉 11 g/dL). Conclusiones: el IMC materno se asoció con el peso al nacer; la concentración de Hb materna no se asoció con el peso del recién nacido.
