Abstract:
A partir del análisis conceptual y comparativo, el autor analiza las propiedades de los sistemas electorales de los países árabes e islámicos. Para ello desarrolla un panorama general de las elecciones como instituciones —en el mundo de las democracias occidentales— y las confronta con las elecciones árabes. De esa manera busca diferenciar mejor, sin dejar de considerar el contexto propio de la región objeto de estudio. Los títulos de las seis partes de los artículos dan un panorama del enfoque empleado por el autor: Elecciones, El sufragio, El sistema electoral, La organización de las elecciones, La integración de fuerzas políticas que son adversas a la democracia, y, La ambivalencia funcional de las elecciones.
