Abstract:
Das Projekt, die Garnisonkirche in Potsdam wiederaufzubauen, geht auf die Initiative des Bun-deswehroffiziers Max Klaar und der Traditionsgemeinschaft Potsdamer Glockenspiel zu¬rück, die der Stadt Potsdam 1991 einen Nachbau des Glockenspiels der Kirche schenkte und dann erfolgreich für die Wiederaufbauidee warb. Nach anfänglicher Ablehnung wandte sich die evangelische Kirche dem Projekt im Jahr 2000 zu. Innerkirchlichem Protest zum Trotz entschied man sich bald mit Rücksicht auf mögliche Spender für eine äußerlich weitgehend originalgetreue und bruchlose Rekonstruktion. 2017 erfolgte die Grundsteinlegung für den Nachbau des Kirchturms. Das Projekt wird inzwischen überwiegend aus Bundesmitteln finanziert und spaltet bis heute die Potsdamer Stadtgesellschaft.
