Abstract:
Since the earliest mixed music compositions in the 1950s, composers and performers have been concerned with the synchronization of the instrumental and electro-acoustic parts of musical works. Computerized interactive systems can now intimately blend these two worlds. The author shows that an instrument augmented with electronic sensors (the hyper-flute) can capture the performer's gestures and enable interaction with the computer.
