Abstract:
Sowohl in der medizinischen Diagnostik als auch in der therapeutischen Behandlung neurologischer Erkrankungen bleiben sekundäre Atemstörungen oft auf der Strecke: Motorische Probleme stehen seitens der Physiotherapie und Stimm- und Sprechstörungen in der Sprachtherapie im Vordergrund. Die Atemtherapie nach Middendorf – bislang eher in psychosomatischen Kliniken eingesetzt – bietet in der Neurologie die Möglichkeit, die Atemnot zu lindern. Die Körperund Atemwahrnehmung wird geschult; dies ermöglicht eine Verbesserung von Atemqualität und Atemtiefe. Die Effekte reichen weit über das respiratorische System hinaus: Der Muskeltonus normalisiert sich, Bewegungsabläufe harmonisieren sich. Mit steigender Atemkraft ist eine Ökonomisierung der Stimm- und Sprechleistungen zu erreichen. Erstmals wird die atemtherapeutische Behandlung am Beispiel unterschiedlicher neurologischer Erkrankungen beschrieben.
