Abstract:
A pandemia de COVID-19, desencadeada pelo surgimento do novo coronavírus, tem sido um dos eventos mais significativos dos últimos anos, afetando a vida de milhões de pessoas em todo o mundo. Existe uma estreita associação entre a pandemia de COVID-19 e o desenvolvimento de sintomas de ansiedade e depressão, como já relatado em estudos. Embora o estresse e a depressão em si não causem problemas bucais diretamente, eles podem levar a mudanças de comportamento que podem afetar a saúde oral. Efeitos adversos significativos no estado psicoemocional levaram a intensificação do bruxismo, sintomas de DTM, além da dor orofacial. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar em artigos científicos as consequências do estresse psicossocial causado pela pandemia de COVID-19, associado às restrições relacionadas a esse período, na saúde bucal. Tratou-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, na qual foram sucedidas buscas de estudos, com coleta de dados nos sites Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Google Acadêmico e SciELO. Os dados foram coletados entre os meses de março a maio de 2023. Sobre a relação entre ansiedade, depressão e a saúde bucal no período da pandemia de COVID-19, foram selecionados 14 estudos, no período de 2020 a 2022. A partir da leitura na íntegra dos artigos foram estabelecidos 4 núcleos temáticos: Núcleo 1: Ansiedade e depressão em tempos de pandemia. Núcleo 2: Saúde bucal no período da pandemia. Núcleo 3: Relação entre ansiedade, depressão e bruxismo. Núcleo 4: Relação entre ansiedade, depressão e disfunção temporomandibular. Concluiu-se que a pandemia da COVID-19 esteve associada ao aumento dos níveis de estresse, ansiedade e depressão. Tais condições estiveram relacionadas ao surgimento, desenvolvimento da DTM e do bruxismo, assim como da piora dessas condições preexistentes.
