Abstract:
A five-layer cylindrical drift chamber was constructed for a low-energy p̄p experiment. The chamber was located inside a dipole magnet with an applied field of 2.5 kG, and a liquid-hydrogen target was embedded at the center of the chamber. Since the beam traversed the chamber, care was taken in the design of the drift cells. A spatial resolution of about 200 µm was obtained in the presence of magnetic fields.
