Abstract:
Dieser Artikel behandelt die Umsetzung der zisterziensischen Wirtschaftsgrundsätze im Gebiet des östlichen Deutschlands. Im Mittelpunkt steht das Zisterzienserkloster Altzella und die Organisation seiner Klosterwirtschaft, insbesondere die Größe und die Struktur seiner Grangien. Eine kritische Analyse der Quellen (Urkunden, Inventare, Architektur, Ergebnisse der Siedlungsforschung) läßt teilweise beträchtliche Abweichungen von den Bestimmungen der Ordensregel der Zisterzienser erkennen, die vor allem in der spezifischen Ausgangsbedingungen im Gründungsgebiet von Altzella begründet liegen. Den Artikel beschließt ein Vergleich der Grangienzahl und -größe von Altzella mit Angaben zu anderen Klöstern.
