Abstract:
Formation of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of novolak resins has been studied and the films have been microscopically characterized by an atomic force microscope (AFM). It is found that uniform LB films are formed by using fractionated novolak resins. AFM measurements indicate that the LB films formed from the novolak resins of low molecular weight have ordered structures.
