    Abstract: Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein (eGFP) shows much stronger fluorescence than its ancestor, Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), thus has been widely applied as a reporter for biomedical research. In this study, we reported the expression of a synthetic codon optimized gene encoding eGFP in Escherichia coli (E. coli). The gene was cloned into two expression vectors, pQE30 and pColdII and the resulting recombinant vectors were transformed into E. coli M15 and BL21 De3 RIL codon plus strains, respectively. The expression levels of functional eGFP showed a temperature dependent pattern, in which lowering the induction temperature increased the amount of functional eGFP. Surprisingly, eGFP showed a phenomenon called auto-induction when E. coli TOP10 cells carrying recombinant pQE30 and pColdII were grown on Luria Broth plates. The recombinant eGFP showed robust stability even at room temperature, thus greatly facilitated its purification and handling. Mouse polyclonal antibodies were conveniently generated against the protein. Besides its potential application as a reporter gene in E. coli, the gene and its expression systems reported here are extremely useful as models for teaching recombinant DNA technology at undergraduate level.

    Abstract: Playing a vital role in assuring reliability of language performance assessment, rater training has been a topic of interest in research on large-scale testing. Similarly, in the context of VSTEP, the effectiveness of the rater training program has been of great concern. Thus, this research was conducted to investigate the impact of the VSTEP speaking rating scale training session in the rater training program provided by University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Data were collected from 37 rater trainees of the program. Their ratings before and after the training session on the VSTEP.3-5 speaking rating scales were then compared. Particularly, dimensions of score reliability, criterion difficulty, rater severity, rater fit, rater bias, and score band separation were analyzed. Positive results were detected when the post-training ratings were shown to be more reliable, consistent, and distinguishable. Improvements were more noticeable for the score band separation and slighter in other aspects. Meaningful implications in terms of both future practices of rater training and rater training research methodology could be drawn from the study.

    Abstract: Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) or 'the tree of life' is one of the most important palm crops due to its versatility. Reduction in coconut productivity due to natural calamity and disease threats has raised the urgent need to develop in vitro techniques that can overcome the obstacles of the traditional breeding method. Embryo culture is one of the earliest in vitro culture techniques applied to practical problems and so far has proved itself to be of great value to breeders. However, contamination is one of the most serious problems that reduces the efficiency in in vitro culture techniques. Thus, appropriate surface sterilization treatments are highly important to in vitro culture establishment. The present study was performed to evaluate the sterilization effect of calcium hypochlorite by comparing with sodium hypochlorite. This study also examined the effects of calcium hypochlorite concentrations on plantlets morphogenesis. The findings revealed that amongst the tested treatments, 0.5% (w/v) calcium hypochlorite was the most effective treatment with the lowest rate of contamination. This treatment also significantly improved shoot and root elongation in comparison with calcium hypochlorite at higher concentrations (3% and 6%, w/v). Thus, this concentration was found to be optimal for surface sterilization of two coconut cultivars - Aromatic and Xiem Red Dwarf. Besides that, the results obtained from this study indicated that 70% (v/v) ethanol was not critical in surface sterilization protocol of coconut embryo culture. This research has provided an improved approach for surface sterilization which was previously dependent on sodium hypochlorite and ethanol.

    Abstract: Hiện nay có nhiều nghiên cứu về nâng cao chất lượng thông tin trên báo cáo tài chính tại các doanh nghiệp niêm yết trên thị trường chứng khoán nhưng vấn đề này lại ít được quan tâm tại các doanh nghiệp nhỏ và vừa. Nghiên cứu sử dụng phương pháp nghiên cứu hỗn hợp bao gồm phương pháp định tính (phỏng vấn chuyên gia) và phương pháp định lượng như phân tích nhân tố khám phá EFA, phân tích hồi quy để xác định và đo lường các nhân tố ảnh hưởng đến sai sót trên BCTC. Nghiên cứu tiến hành khảo sát người hành nghề kế toán tại các doanh nghiệp và các chuyên gia trong lĩnh vực kế toán với số mẫu hợp lệ là 150 mẫu. Kết quả cho thấy hệ thống kiểm soát nội bộ, năng lực nhà lãnh đạo, môi trường pháp lý, kế hoạch đào tạo và bồi dưỡng, năng lực kế toán viên và hệ thống thông tin kế toán tại doanh nghiệp là các yếu tố tác động đến việc sai sót trong kế toán. Từ kết quả của nghiên cứu này, một số ý kiến được đề xuất nhằm hạn chế các sai sót và nâng cao chất lượng thông tin hữu ích cho các doanh nghiệp nhỏ và vừa tại Việt Nam.

    Abstract: The purpose of this study is to reuse fishpond sediment to produce organic fertilizer for planting maize. The sludge was mixed with rice husk and Composted under aerobic conditions. The effectiveness of Compost on planting maizes was assessed by adding to maizes with and without combination chemical fertilizers as different dosages as recommendations. The amounts of Compost adding for maizes were 10 and 20 tons/ha. Maize growth, characteristics of corn, and soil physical and chemical parameters such as bulk density, soil aggregate stability, the volume of moisture, and useful moisture of soil were measured and evaluated. The results showed that the quality of organic fertilizer produced from waste sludge met Vietnamese standard (QCVN:2018/BNNPTNT) for adding to crops. Applying organic fertilizer with the quantity of 20 tons/ha to combine with the recommendation of inorganic fertilizer amount for planting maizes increased the yield. Moreover, 20 ton/ha of organic fertilizer coupling with 50% of chemical fertilizer amount as a recommendation for planting maize also enhanced the yield to compare with the control (only using inorganic fertilizer as a recommendation). The maize yield of applying 20 tons/ha of organic fertilizer was higher than the maize yield of 10 tons/ha of organic fertilizer. Using organic fertilizer produced by fishpond sediment did improve not only the soil quality but also protected the canals and increased household income.

    Abstract: Abstract: Establishing a process of interpreting the high-resolution seismic profile according to a sedimentary geological point of view is a very urgent task. The explanation process can be divided into the following steps: (1) Boundary demarcation of sequences based on unconformable surfaces showing signs of erosion of the river bed; (2) Analysis of lithofacies and lithofacies association according to time and to space in relation to global sea level change; (3) Demarcation of systems tract: low stand systems tract (LST), Transgressive systems tract (TST) and Highstand systems tract (HST). On that basis, Tran Nghi (2012) established an integrated general formula between lithofacies and systems tract: (1) Li LST = arLST + amrLST; (2) LiTST = atTST + amtTST + mtTST; (3) LiHST = ahHST + amhTST Where, Li - Lithofacies; ar - Alluvial facies of lowstand systems tract; at - Alluvial facies of transgressive systems tract; ah - Deltaic facies of lowstand systems tract; amr - Deltaic facies of highstand systems tract; amt- Coastal facies of transgressive systems tract; mt - Shallow sea facies of maximum transgressive systems tract;  The results have determined the exact location of the ancient river channels and their’s change history in the shallow coastal area of ​​the Red River Delta.     Abstract: The argo-industrial model producing of closed ecosystem in Mekong Delta is a development in the world. In this paper, the construction method outlined criteria identifys for the agro-industrial production model toward dual-closed ecological direction for coconut jelly processing facility. Set up criteria determines the impacts of production technology, the efficiency of using energy and natural resources, sustainable livelihoods, and the replicability of the model that will affect on the sustainability of the model. The research methodology was based on the results of surveys, investigation, and assessment of current model, and identifying a scientific basis for the set up criteria. Based on that, set up criteria was propose and application for a coconut jelly processing facility for Nguyen Thanh Trung household in Nhon Thanh commnune, Ben Tre city, Ben Tre province and recommend the solution for completed model based on eco-technique and closed matter & energy line. The results of the model meet all the requirements of the set up criteria. The quality of water supply meets the standards for coconut jelly processing. Treated wastewater by aquatic plants system meets the standard for wastewater discharges into the water resource. Water comsumption was saved and reduced the greenhouse gas emissions from burning wood for coconut jelly processing. The production costs were saved, resulting increasing income for household. This is pilot the perfected model to expand to other facilities.
