Abstract:
A new type of biaxial accelerometer using a piezoelectric ceramic cylinder with a plural of strip electrodes has been developed. The sensitivities of the X and Y axes of this accelerometer are about 14.6 pC/G, and the crosstalk of the two axes is below 0.7 pC/G. Frequency characteristics spread from 10 to 1000 Hz (±1 dB). This accelerometer can detect accelerations in two directions acting at one point. Because it uses only one detecting element, the difference in sensitivity between these two axes is very small. This accelerometer will be applicable to the air bag system of auto-mobiles.
