Abstract:
The dielectric properties and piezoelectric resonance frequency were studied in 0.5 wt% Nb 2 O 5 doped Pb(Zr x Ti 1- x )O 3 ceramics ( x =0.52 and 0.53) near the morphotropic phase boundary. The inverse dielectric constants were plotted as a function of temperature, and the broad anomaly-related MPB and thermal hysteresis were successfully observed in temperature ranges from 220 K to 320 K for PZT52/48 and from 300 K to 400 K for PZT53/47. The frequency constants of PZT52/48 and PZT53/47 also showed broad anomalies in the same temperature ranges. These broadenings reflect the coexistence of the tetragonal and rhombohedral phases near the MPB. The temperature dependence of electromechanical coupling factor, the shear modulus and Poisson's ratio were determined from the observed data.
