Content: The most ambitious publication devoted to Kevin Beasley’s work to date, A View of a Landscape comprises a 300-page monograph and double LP record, designed together and conceived by the artist as equal, integrated elements. The book is an expansive look at Beasley’s work in sculpture, sound, and performance, illuminating how his practice finds its grounding in his family’s land in Virginia, a place that also brings out larger American histories. Along with texts by nine writers with strong ties to the artist, the substantial book features a large array of images that include Beasley’s work and materials from his own amassed visual archive. The double LP features newly recorded tracks by musicians and artists from Beasley’s close creative circles, produced in partnership with London-based record label Hyperdub. The musician’s tracks are uniquely their own, but they all sample recordings that Beasley made, reflecting an ongoing spirit of collaboration. Contributors: Book: Andy Battaglia, Kevin Beasley, Daphne A. Brooks, Adrienne Edwards, Leon Finley, Mark Godfrey, Thomas J. Lax, Ralph Lemon, Tiona Nekkia McClodden, Fred Moten Double LP: Laurel Halo, Jlin, Eli Keszler, L'Rain, Ralph Lemon, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Kelsey Lu, Jason Moran, Fred Moten, Moor Mother, Okwui Okpokwasili, SCRAAATCH

Content: Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition, Let me consider it from here features color reproductions of artworks by Saul Fletcher, Brook Hsu, and Tetsumi Kudo and transcriptions of the audio works of Constance DeJong, alongside newly commissioned poems by Geoffrey G. O'Brien, Simone White, and Lynn Xu, and an epilogue by Solveig Øvstebø. These artists frequently draw from their own histories, humors, and instincts as they grapple with or reimagine what's happening in the world around them. Across a range of mediums, their works open up spaces that oscillate between strange and familiar, registering deeply personal experiences as well as more ambient cultural and political pressures. Their practices are all similarly anchored in solitude and stretch outward to meet the world, guiding us to the liminal realms between the public and the intimate, the concrete and the fantastical

Content: Between the Ticks of the Watch is the catalog to the exhibition of the same name at the Renaissance Society. The show featured artists Kevin Beasley, Peter Downsbrough, Goutam Ghosh, Falke Pisano, and Martha Wilson, who together presented a platform for considering doubt as both a state of mind and a pragmatic tool. Between the Ticks of the Watch traces how doubt can eat away at the foundation of understanding itself, calling into question the very possibility of knowledge - or at least demanding recognition of its limitations. Featuring two new in-depth essays, a poetic text, and contributions by the artists featured in the exhibition, this catalog further presents doubt as a critical means for identifying new avenues of inquiry. The texts open space for the germination of novel forms and concepts, or questioning structures of power that have long been in place. Exhibition: The Renaissance Society, Chicago, USA (24.04-26.06.2016)
