Der Beitrag untersucht das Motiv der verzauberten Riesen in „Sir Ga-wain and the Green Knight“ und im „Daniel vom blühenden Tal“ anhand der Figuren des grünen Halbriesen sowie des Riesenvaters und seiner zwei Söhne. Im Gegensatz zur These Tina Boyers geht dieser Beitrag davon aus, dass der Riesenvater ein menschlicher Magier ist. Über die Verbreitung des Motivs in der mittelalterlichen Literatur wird abschließend in Verbindung mit der „Historia Regum Britanniae“ Geoffreys of Monmouth nachgedacht.
