Der Bundestag hat den Abriss des Palastes der Republik zwar längst beschlossen, aber der Abrisstermin wird immer wieder verschoben. Die Diskussion über den Palast der Republik kommt nicht zur Ruhe: Muss der ehemalige Vorzeigepalast der DDR als Symbol eines Zwangssystems beseitigt werden oder sollte er als Zeugnis eines bestimmten historischen Abschnitts der deutschen Geschichte erhalten bleiben? Die Forderung, der Bundestag möge seinen Beschluss noch einmal überdenken, wird lauter, zumal das Geld für den an selber Stelle geplanten Neubau des Berliner Schlosses fehlt. Der Palast, der nach der Asbestsanierung nur noch ein Skelett aus Beton und Stahl ist, entwickelt unterdessen eine gewaltige Anziehungskraft auf Berliner Künstler: Hier wird Theater gespielt, werden Filme gezeigt, Partys gefeiert, Kongresse abgehalten. Der Palast ist zum Zukunftslabor geworden, zum Fun Palace, in dem sich Politik, Kunst und Entertainment ein Stelldichein geben. [www.3sat.de]
