Content: This chapter undertakes on profiling segments of consumers and fulfils objective six. The variables used for profiling are displayed in 8.1. Sections 8.2 and 8.3 obtain consumer membership in the segments based on the profiling variables. Lastly, Sect. 8.4 integrates various features of responsible consumers that differentiate them from their correspondents. The profile of responsible consumers reveals that people here are aged, highly educated, academically insightful, non-business academics, the earning people, married, and parents. These people are the members of joint but medium-sized families, get high support of their family members, and are not much wealthier. People here are found to be the followers of Sikh and Hindu religions. Also, they think objectively, give importance to society, are self-guided, and believe in collective working

Content: The present study is a humble attempt to examine the pricing and discount related practices of manufactures from the scientific instruments industry Ambala Cantt in the state of Haryana. It divides the manufacturing units into micro, small and medium (MSME) enterprises, and compares the level of their practices. For accomplishing the purpose, a sample of 150 units is selected. Collected data are analyzed by using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation), and inferential statistics of ANOVA and Post Hoc Test. Results indicate that 'skimming' and 'costplus' pricing methods are highly employed in the industry; whereas, 'penetration pricing' is least preferred. Likewise, 'quantity discount' and 'cash discount' are in high preference, and 'seasonal discount' practice is rarely used. These are the medium units who apply all the pricing and discount practicesfirmly. Small units are also on their track. But, micro units lack behind in the level of usage of different practices. Hence, it is implied by the findings that micro units simply follow their counterparts. Correspondingly, this paper calls for further research to understand the complications involved in the decisions, and finding the solutions of enterprises' problems

Content: The present paper is an attempt to examine the product practices of scientific instruments industry in Ambala. For this purpose, by using snow ball sampling technique, 150 scientific instruments making units consisting 80 micro, 50 small and 20 medium are selected. The statistical analysis reveals that there exist wide differences among producers of scientific instruments with regard to product practices including product development, test marketing, branding, packaging, labeling, after sale Services, and quality assurance. Moreover, micro units are lagging behind from small as well as medium enterprises in adopting product practices according to modem needs. Meanwhile, medium enterprises are found to implement best product practices in comparison of micro and small units may be due to their strong economic position. Further, the findings imply that in the age of consumer sovereignty, all units of scientific instruments industry need to maintain standardized product practices with social responsibility for which Government must support them by providing modem technology, and arranging training programs for technical guidance

Content: The study investigated consumer willingness for the protection and sustainability of environment by using a scale on willingness to contribute (WC), developed from literature and introduced on a sample of 300 respondents. The results are drawn using percentages, mean-comparison, standard deviation and ANOVA. Mean values confers that males, youngsters, highly educated, academically intelligent, non-business academics, married, rural residents, working respondents, members of medium sized families and high income class are more willing to contribute than their counterparts. Further, ANOVA test attains that the mean differences of marital status, academic orientation, academic intelligence and profession are statistically reliable. These findings will guide the policy and strategy formulation for creating sustainable environment

Content: Purpose: To create a sustainable environment, the aim of this study is to explore and identify the components of environmental attitude that can drive the specific ecological behaviour of Indian consumers. Further, it defines environmental attitude components as moderators and investigates them as predictor of ecological behaviour.Design/methodology/approach: The constructs of environmental attitude (EA) and ecological behaviour (EB) are measured using standardized scales with modifications that represent demography of Indian consumers, then, introduced among 300 respondents. Factor analysis, correlations of the factors, and regression analysis are used to draw the results.Findings: Constructs of EA and EB are found to be multidimensional and support the literature. Many of their components are found to be significantly correlated inferring that consumers behave ecologically in specific manners depending on the formed attitude. Also, findings suggest that EA components work as predictors of EB. Further, developing a positive environmental attitude is a step to achieve sustainable environment.Research limitations/implications: An attempt is made to improve scales to best suit Indian conditions but development of a reliable and valid measure never ends. This may partly limit the generality of the results. To study fresh issues on Indian conditions, a new scale index can be tested. Researcher, producers, media, policy planners and executives will get a cue to generate relevant value of their work.Originality/value: The paper is a maiden attempt on Indian consumers and has enough potential to change the behaviour for achieving sustainable living. It will strengthen the literature in extrapolating the consumer classes besides identifying two new components of EB: costly exercise and uncaring behaviour

Content: The present study makes an analysis of fisheries sector in Haryana. For this purpose, data are collected from various issues of Statistical Abstracts of Haryana and Handbook on Fisheries Statistics. Collected data are analyzed by computing descriptive statistics, compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and regression model. It is found that fish farming area and fish production have grown at the CAGR of 5.127 per cent and 9.636 per cent respectively for the period 2004-05 to 2017-18. Unfortunately, for the same period, number of fishing licenses issued is found to be experiencing negative CAGR equal to -0.057. Meanwhile, production of fish seeds have grown at CAGR of 16.183 per cent during 2004-05 to 2013-14. However, GSDP from fisheries sector is compounded annually at the appreciable rate of 21.288 per cent which is higher than the growth rate of agricultural GSDP (13.315 per cent) and overall GSDP (15.720 per cent). Moreover, elasticity of agricultural GSDP as well as overall GSDP with respect to fisheries GSDP are found to be 0.617 and 0.700 respectively during the time period under consideration. On the basis of these results, it can be inferred that to sustain and uplift the contributions of fisheries sector in Haryana focused attention towards the development of this sector is urgent

Content: The paper presents a financial analysis of State Bank of India (SBI) for the period 2001-02 to 2010-11. The financial analytical tool of trend percentage brings out the propensity of its performance. The findings indicate that number of branches, borrowings, total assets, deposits, income and expenses of the bank are continuously increasing. However, data for number of working employees and investment reveal a mixed trend. Sometimes the mathematical values decreased from their previous level but then again in the coming years substantially gained their part. The trend of profitability states that it is increasing over the years but in 2010-11 also decreased if compared to previous years. Therefore, it is suggested that a proper scrutiny and check must be realized on expenses and borrowings of the bank. Since, these are simultaneously increasing with income, may put downward pressure on the profits

Content: Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as a multivariate data analysis technique is considered sophisticated one and becoming popular among researchers. Literature is not consistent on one of the important matter of SEM which is related with the determination of adequacy of model fit. In view of this shortcoming, the paper aims at accumulating opinions and notions of researchers which are evident from literature regarding fit of SEM model on the basis of indices of fit. Afterward, it contently analyzes previous studies to give a new outlook to the topic. A criterion is proposed in the paper, based on which academicians and researchers can determine the level of fit for their estimated models. The estimated models may not always be perfect and even may not be acceptable as per the guidelines provided in literature. But the paper further proposes that any research model cannot be rejected just because the data which is analyzed does not fit it perfectly. Therefore, both researchers and practitioners are encouraged to contribute on the said aspect. To further develop the topic and enhancement in the research field of SEM, the studies with strong theoretical background even with poor fitting models should be published. Let the new studies do their job of examining, whether it is the research model that is not appropriate or the problem is associated only with the poor quality and less reliable data
