Max ist über 70 und schwer krank. Er möchte selbstbestimmt aus dem Leben scheiden, von seinen Freunde, die ihn dabei begleiten wollen, wagt es jedoch keiner, tatsächlich aktiv zu werden. Einer von ihnen, der passionierte Erfinder Yehezkel, baut daraufhin eine Selbsttötungsmaschine, die Max und den Freunden den letzten Schritt abnehmen soll. Trotz abgemachter Verschwiegenheit dringt die Kunde über den Apparat nach draußen und schon bald sehen sich die Senioren einer Flut von Anfragen gegenüber, die sich genau eine solche Hilfe dringend wünschen. Zudem verschlechtert sich der Zustand von Yehezkels Frau dramatisch, die an Alzheimer erkrankt ist. - Die mehr als aktuellen Themen Alter, Selbstbestimmung und Sterbehilfe werden in der israelischen Tragikomödie mitunter recht schwarzhumorig aufgerabeitet. "So ist der Film nicht nur ein Plädoyer für die Freiheit bis in den Tod.
