Abstract: Heteronuclear spin decoupling is a vital element in most of the solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance experiments for resolution and sensitivity reasons. The field has seen remarkable advancement in ideas, pulse schemes, and theoretical understanding. This review will take a look at a few such developments in the last two decades and the current perspectives. We expect and hope that the reader will get an overall idea of the decoupling field without getting into the rigour of the design and understanding of the pulse schemes.
