La presente Tesis Doctoral pretende conocer la situación real de consumo de sustancias en la población de menores protegidos, así como detectar las variables predictoras del consumo o la abstinencia en dicha población. Resultados y conclusiones Se obtiene una tipología de consumo específica: mayores prevalencias para todas las sustancias y frecuencias, diferentes preferencias respecto a las sustancias de elección, menores edades de inicio en el consumo y en general, mayores porcentajes de consumo en el caso de las mujeres. Todos los conjuntos de variables estudiados son pronosticadores significativos del consumo de drogas, específicos para esta población y para las distintas drogas, si bien su peso y dirección no son los mismos en todos los casos. Alcohol, tabaco y cánnabis Factores riesgo: búsqueda de emociones y comportamientos destructivos, sentimiento de integración del centro en el barrio, relación con los compañeros del centro, acceso a cánnabis y cerveza, percepción de riesgo del consumo de cocaína; amigos que consumen alcohol, tabaco o cánnabis, presión iguales para fumar o beber, ir a pubs, bares y discotecas y participar en asociaciones o grupos reglados, faltar a clase y tener buenas relaciones con los compañeros de clase. Factores protección: práctica religión, empatía y contacto con la familia, valoración positiva centro, búsqueda de apoyo y cercanía afectiva con los adultos del centro, riesgo percibido del consumo de cánnabis y alucinógenos, práctica actividades de tiempo libre (escuchar música, leer tebeos o dibujar), valoración positiva de la formación recibida en el colegio y buena valoración de sí mismo como estudiante. Otras drogas ilegales Factores riesgo: realización de actos vandálicos; acceso a anfetaminas, consumo de anfetaminas e inhalantes de los amigos y acudir a conciertos. Factores protección: prohibición de no consumir drogas en el centro, percepción de riesgo consumo de cocaína y tener buena consideración de sí mismo como estudiante. [ABSTRACT]This PhD Thesis is intended to both understand the real situation of substance consumption within the framework of protected minors and to detect the predictor variables concerning consumption or abstinence among this population. Results and conclusions A typology of specific consumption is obtained: higher prevalence for all substances and frequencies, different preferences in relation to choice substances, lower starting ages concerning consumption and, in general terms, higher consumption rates concerning women. All the studied sets of variables are meaningful forecasters of drug consumption, specific to this population and to the different drugs, although their importance and path are not the same in all cases. Alcohol, tobacco and cannabis Risk factors: Search for emotions and destructive behaviours; neighbourhood integration feeling of the center; relationship with colleagues in the center; access to cannabis and beer; risk perception of cocaine use; friends who use alcohol, tobacco or cannabis; pressure from equals to smoke or drink; tendency to go to pubs, bars and clubs and to participate in associations or regulated groups, truancy and have good relationships with classmates. Protective factors: religion practise, empathy and family contact, positive centre assessment, search for support and emotional proximity to adults from the center, perceived risk of cannabis and hallucinogens use, leisure activities practise (listening to music, reading comics or drawing), positive consideration of school training and self-good consideration as student. Other illegal drugs Risk Factors: conducting vandalism, amphetamines access, amphetamines and inhalants use by friends and concerts attendance. Protective factors: drug prohibition in the center, risk perception concerning cocaine use and self-good consideration as student
