Seit dem Zerfall Jugoslawiens tobt in den Nachfolgestaaten ein ""Krieg um die Erinnerung"". Ljiljana Radonic untersucht erstmals den Umgang mit dem Zweiten Weltkrieg und dem Holocaust in Kroatien seit 1990. Sie weist nach, dass nach dem Revisionismus der 1990er-Jahre eine Annäherung an europäische ""Erinnerungsstandards"" erfolgte, die jedoch nicht nur positiv zu beurteilen ist. Damit ist Kroatien ein Beispiel für die ""gespaltene"" Erinnerung in Ost- und Westeuropa.
