Content:
One of the leading artists of Polish documentary years '50 and '60, and feature film director and screenwriter. Slesicki was born on 5 January 1927 in Warsaw. During the German occupation was a member of the Grey Ranks (Polish youth resistance movement) and the Home Army. During the Warsaw Uprising was promoted to corporal. After the Warsaw Uprising he was sent to a labor camp in Sulau (Germany), from where he escaped - these experiences have resulted in later film "The road away from us" (1979). In 1955 he graduated from the Faculty of Directing at the Film School in Lodz. After graduation he started working at the Documentary Film Studio in Warsaw. There he realized documentaries, many of which were awarded in the country and abroad. The film, which won the most popular was "In Desert and Wilderness" - seen it in Poland for more than 30 million viewers (second place at the box office in the history of Polish cinema).
