Alcuni soldati israeliani attaccano un gruppo di beduini nel deserto del Negev, uccidendo tutti tranne un'adolescente. La ragazza viene catturata, stuprata, uccisa e sepolta nella sabbia. Molti anni dopo, ai giorni nostri, una donna di Ramallah prova a decifrare alcuni dettagli che aleggiano attorno a quell'omicidio. Biographisches: "Adania Shibli è nata nel 1974 in Palestina. È autrice di romanzi, racconti, opere teatrali, saggi. Nel 2001 e 2003 le è stato conferito il premio Qattan Young Writer's Award-Palestine. Il suo romanzo Masa− S (2002), è stato tradotto in italiano con il titolo Sensi (2007), seguito dalla raccolta di racconti brevi Pallidi segni di quiete (2014). Il suo romanzo qui tradotto, Tafsı− l tha−nawı − (2002), è stato finalista al National Book Award 2020 e all'International Booker Prize 2021. Adania Shibli è anche impegnata nella ricerca accademica e nell'insegnamento."
