= Klappentext: Das vorliegende Lehrbuch setzt sich mit den theoretischen Hintergründen von Migrationsphänomenen sowie den gegenwärtigen Forschungsfeldern von Migrationsstudien auseinander. Es stellt die klassischen und zeitgenössischen Theorien der Migrationssoziologie systematischdar und gibt damit einen Überblick über das breite Spektrum an unterschiedlichen Forschungsansätzen. Themenschwerpunkte sind beispielsweise die Klassiker der Migrationssoziologie über den Fremden, assimilationsorientierte Zyklenmodelle, pluralistische Ansätze sowie die Migrationssystemtheorie. Ebenso werden zeitgenössische Ansätze, wie beispielsweise die Transnationalismustheorie oder die Netzwerktheorie, vorgestellt. Bedeutende Forschungsfelder der Migrationssoziologie – Arbeit und Arbeitsmarkt, Bildung, Integration, Flucht, irreguläre Migrationen, oder die Feminisierung der Migration – werden anschließend untersucht. Zudem werden globale Migrationsphänomene, internationale Migrationsströme und Migrationstrends der Zukunft (z. B. Klimaflucht) betrachtet.
