Once a hit musical show finishes its run on Broadway, the choreography of the notable dance numbers involved would be lost, if not for the efforts of Lee Theodore, founder and director of the American Dance Machine. This dance company is actually a living archive of over 45 dance routines, reconstructed from the original cast members' memories, and performed now as worthwhile pieces of choreography outside the context of the original shows. Among the dances that the American Dance Machine has reconstructed are the numbers from ""West Side Story"" and ""The Boyfriend,"" and such period dances as the mambo and the Charleston. The program captures the group's spirit and enthusiasm as they rehearse under Ms. Theodore's direction, herself a Broadway veteran who has performed in, choreographed and directed musicals for over 30 years. She is aided in the program by Ann Reinking of ""Dancin"" fame, spotlighted as she works with the corps' members to add some of her own notable routines to the company's repertoire
