Diskussionen über Methodologie und Methoden in der Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung können auf eine mehr als zwanzigjährige Entwicklungsgeschichte zurückgreifen. Als zentrale Erkenntnis dieser Diskurse gilt bis heute, dass Methoden keine neutralen Forschungsinstrumente sind, die unabhängig vom Untersuchungsgegenstand, dem sozialen Standort der Forschenden, ihren Interessen und theoretischen Vorannahmen Gültigkeit haben. Von daher stand das Verhältnis zwischen Erkenntnisinteresse und Methodenwahl sowie der (Selbst-) Reflexion der Forschenden von Anfang an im Mittelpunkt der Aufmerksamkeit. Im vorliegenden Lehrbuch werden diese Debatten aufgegriffen und zentrale Entwicklungslinien methodologischer und methodischer Konzepte der Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung nachgezeichnet. Vorgestellt werden methodologische Erörterungen, konkrete empirische Studien und ihre methodischen Konzepte sowie jüngere Debatten über die Kategorie Geschlecht
