Das Oktett F-Dur D 803 von Franz Schubert für Klarinette, Horn, Fagott, zwei Violinen, Viola, Violoncello und Kontrabass ist eines der populärsten Werke für gemischte Kammermusik. Mit dem umfangreichen Werk wollte er sich nach eigenen Worten "den Weg zur großen Sinfonie" bahnen. Hingegen ist das Grand Septett B-Dur für Klarinette, Horn, Fagott, Violine, Viola, Violoncello und Kontrabass aus dem Jahr 1828 von Franz Berwald bei uns leider weitgehend unbekannt. Franz Berwald gilt als Schwedens bedeutendster Komponist des 19. Jahrhunderts und sein Septett ist wirklich ein Geheimtipp. In der Interpretation der exzellenten Solisten von Anima Eterna Brugge könnte Berwald endlich eine längst überfällige Renaissance erleben. Schuberts Oktett hingegen ist fast schon Grundbestand. pr

TON-E Beide hier eingespielte Kammermusikwerke haben Beethovens Septett op. 20 zum Vorbild, erweisen sich jedoch in der kompositorischen Umsetzung als eigenständig in Stil und Form. Während Franz Schuberts Oktett D 803 zu den populären Gipfelwerken der gemischt besetzten Kammermusik gehört, ist das Grand Septet B-Dur von Franz Berwald noch immer nicht über den Status des Geheimtipps hinausgekommen. Das Werk des schwedischen Schubert-Zeitgenossen besticht nicht nur durch seine individuelle Musiksprache, sondern auch durch ungewöhnliche formale Lösungen. Die exzellenten Solisten von Anima Eterna Brügge erweisen sich hier einmal mehr als subtil agierende Kammermusiker.
