Erstmalig steht der Verein Berliner Künstler, 1841 gegründet, im Mittelpunkt zweier Ausstellungen: In der Akademie der Künste, Pariser Platz 4, Berlin-Mitte, beleuchten herausragende, bisher unbekannte Fotografien und Dokumente die Geschichte von Deutschlands ältestem noch bestehenden Künstlerverein. Parallel dazu präsentiert der Verein Berliner Künstler am Schöneberger Ufer 57, Berlin-Tiergarten, eine Auswahl aus seinem facettenreichen, mehr als 3000 Werke umfassenden graphischen Archiv der Öffentlichkeit, darunter Arbeiten von Adolph Menzel, Carl Steffeck, Emil Orlik, Conrad Felixmüller und Matthias Koeppel. Das Ergebnis ist ein kleiner Rundgang durch die wechselvolle Geschichte der Kunstmetropole Berlin.
