Großer Besucherandrang herrscht z.Zt. in Berlins Neuer Nationalgalerie, wo bis September Werke aus der berühmten Sammlung des New Yorker Museum of Modern Art gezeigt werden. Der vorliegende Bildband zeigt in ganzseitigen Reproduktionen über 200 Höhepunkte dieser Ausnahmeausstellung (im Anhang außerdem eine Chronologie zur Geschichte des MoMA). Zahlreiche Epochen und Stilrichtungen der Kunst der Moderne sind vertreten, durch Kunstwerke und Künstler, die "jeder" kennt, u.a. Cézanne (1885), Van Gogh, Picasso, Miró, Rodin, Pollock, Warhol, Lichtenstein u.v.a. bis hin zu den noch wenig großen Namen der abstrakten und minimalistischen Malerei und Skulptur der Gegenwart (bis 1994). "Alle Werke werden von Texten führender Kunsthistoriker erläutert und können teilweise erstmals in deutscher Sprache vorgelegt werden." heißt es im Verlagstext. Der Ausstellungskatalog bietet also sowohl Reproduktionen in ausgezeichneter Druckqualität wie gut aufbereitete Information zu den Kunstwerken, ist sein Geld wert und kann Bibliotheken mit nennenswerten Kunstbeständen nur empfohlen werden.
