Die vorliegende Studie ist die leicht überarbeitete und gekürzte Fassung meiner Dissertation, die ich im Juli 1995 an der Universität GH Essen eingereicht habe. Jahrhunderts verfassen Hans Henny J ahnn und Thomas Mann im Exil als Haupt- bzw. Spätwerk die großen Romane Fluß ohne Ufer und Doktor Faustus, auf deren Parallelität in der Forschungsliteratur bis heute immer wieder 1 verwiesen wird. Die Hervorhebung von Gemeinsamkeiten bedarf einer Präzisie rung, die gemeinhin vernachlässigt wird: Die Analogien betreffen ausschließlich den zweiten Teil der Trilogie J ahnns, Die Niederschrift des Gustav A nias Horn, wie der Doktor Faustus ein Musikerroman
