Die 31. Ausgabe des Schweizer Jahrbuchs für Musikwissenschaft vereint eine Reihe von Beiträgen aus der vielfältigen institutionellen und intellektuellen Landschaft der schweizerischen Musikwissenschaft. Drei Aufsätze (Rentsch, Zicari, Zoppelli) sind die Früchte von Wissenschaftlern, welche an schweizerischen Universitäten lehren, zwei davon (Rusch, Struijk van Bergen) stammen von jungen Forschern, die an solchen Hochschulen ihre Ausbildung erhalten haben. Die vorliegende Ausgabe konzentriert sich auf das 19. und 20. Jahrhundert mit Schwerpunktthemen um Liszt, Wagner und Brahms sowie auf das späte 20. Jahrhundert und auf Luciano Berio. Die aktuelle Ausgabe möchte damit letztlich ein ausdrucksvolles Zeugnis der Aufgeschlossenheit und der verschiedenen Themengebiete und Interessen der gegenwärtigen schweizerischen Forschung ablegen, welche nicht zuletzt ein Resultat der mehrsprachigen und multikulturellen Vielfalt des Landes darstellen. In einem immer stärker von Formen der Vereinfachung und des linguistischen Monopols bedrohten Panorama setzt die konstante Präsenz von drei Nationalsprachen im Schweizer Jahrbuch für Musikwissenschaft ein starkes und deutliches Zeichen von Vertrauen in den Reichtum unserer kulturellen Vielfalt.
