Als erstes abendfüllendes Ballett ohne Handlung, dessen drei Teile thematisch durch den "Juwelen"-Titel miteinander verbunden sind, haben die 1967 vom New York City Ballet herausgebrachten "Jewels" Geschichte gemacht. In der hier angezeigten Version werden sie vom Ballett der Pariser Opéra getanzt, neu ausgestattet von Christian Lacroix, mit Letitia Pujol und Mathieu Ganio sowie Claire-Marie Osta und Kader Belarbi in den Hauptpartien von "Emeralds" (Smaragde), Aurélie Dupont und Alesio Carbone in "Rubies" (Rubine) und Agnès Letestu und Jean-Guillaume Bart in "Diamonds" (Diamanten). ?Emeralds? wird zu ausgewählten Stücken von Gabriel Fauré getanzt - eine Art geträumtes Gedicht an das romantische Ballett der Pariser Schule, "Rubies" zu Strawinskys Capriccio für Klavier und Orchester, inspiriert von den jazzartigen Rhythmen mit ausgesprochen amerikanischen Music-Hall-Akzenten, und "Diamonds" zu Tschaikowskys dritter Sinfonie (ohne deren ersten Satz) als Hommage an den russischen Zaren-Klassizismus von Petipa, mit einer grandiosen Polonaise als Finale.
