Geteiltes Leid sei halbes Leid, sagt der Volksmund. Im sozialen, psychotherapeutischen und seelsorglichen Kontext gibt es zahlreiche positive Beschreibungen für die Haltung der Zuwendung: Mitleid, Mitgefühl, Empathie, Anteilnahme, Erbarmen, Sympathie, ja sogar Liebe ... Gleichzeitig verwechseln die in der Begleitung Tätigen diese Haltung vielfach mit Gefühlsansteckung, was nicht selten zu Belastung, zu emotionaler Erschöpfung, zu Burnout führen kann. Sollte das der Fall sein, ist frau als Begleiterin oder man als Behandler sehr schnell "in Mitleidenschaft gezogen". Ein in Mitleidenschaft gebrachtes Haus oder Möbel erscheinen eher baufällig, brüchig, defizitär - sie wirken fehler- und lückenhaft. So lässt die Unterstützung durch einen extrem Mitleidenden ebenfalls an Qualität, Kraft und Sicherheit zu wünschen übrig. Wie wir eine gesunde, uns selbst und andere stützende Haltung einüben und einnehmen können, beleuchten dieses "Leidfaden"-Themenheft sowie das gleichnamige Symposium (15./16. November 2018 in Wien).
