In diesem umfassenden und gut verständlichen Ratgeber zum Thema Sonne und (Kunst-)Licht betrachten die beiden Autoren (Arzt, Journalistin) viele verschiedene Aspekte, z.B. Anatomie des Auges und des Gehirns, Physiologie, Chronobiologie, Melatonin, Sonnenbrand (Auge, Haut), blaues Kunstlicht (Lampen), Bildschirmarbeit, Vitamin D, Sauerstoff, Tryptophan, Ernährung, Winterdepression, Schlaf, Älter werden. Dazu gibt es einige Fallbeispiele aus der ärztlichen Praxis und mehrere Exkurse (u.a. Entstehung des Universums und der Sonne, Erfindung des Kunstlichtes). Es werden nur wenige Fachtermini verwendet, welche bei Gebrauch sofort erläutert werden. Als Selbsthilfe für den Leser gibt es insgesamt zehn Aufgaben im Buch verteilt als "Licht-Tagebuch". Viele farbige Abbildungen und Grafiken lockern das Buch angenehm auf. Ein ausführliches Inhaltsverzeichnis ist vorhanden. Dem noch ausreichenden Register fehlen leider wichtige Einträge.
