Sie schildert, mit welchen unterschiedlichen Strategien sie dagegen vorzugehen versuchten, welche Erfolge und - oft tödliche - Misserfolge sie erlebten. Dazu zählen z.B. gut bekannte aus der Literatur, wie Agnes Bernauer (1410-1435), Anna Constantia von Cosel (1680-1765), Marie Caroline von Berry (1798-1870) oder Elisabeth von Thadden (1890-1944), doch auch vermutlich weniger geläufige wie Katharina von Breganza (1638-1705), Marie-Jeanne Roland de La Platière (1754-1793) oder Polina Semjonowa Schemtschuschina (1897-1970). - Der Titel aus der ambitionierten "marixwissen"-Reihe (ID-B 47/13) ist ansprechend aufgemacht und preislich attraktiv. Die kursiv mit Originalzitaten unterlegten, knappen Lebensabrisse halten sich an historisch belegte Fakten und lesen sich überaus gut. Einzig die hier nicht mehr aufführbare Fülle vergleichbarer Sammlungen historischer Frauenbiografien spricht gegen eine sehr breite Empfehlung.
