Die 2015 von C. Mayer (ID-A 40/15) vorgelegte Biografie des britischen Thronfolgers taucht hier in der Bibliografie des 2017 im Original erschienenen Bandes nicht einmal auf. Aber wie dem auch sei, die vorliegende umfangreiche und aus zahlreichen persönlichen Erlebnissen, schriftlichen Quellen und Zeitzeugengesprächen gewonnene Lebensdarstellung schildert durchaus emphatisch das Leben des "ewigen" Thronanwärters zwischen Pflicht und Selbstfindung, Neigungen und Interessen (Kultur, Umwelt, menschliche Begegnungen), Öffentlichkeit und Privatheit. Und natürlich nehmen die unglückliche Verbindung mit Diana und die glücklichere mit Camilla sowie die Beziehungen zur jüngeren Generation der Söhne den gebührenden Raum ein, allerdings und glücklicherweise ohne "Yellow-Press-Style". Quellennachweise, Bibliografie, ausführliches Register. - Die US-Autorin ist Journalistin (u.a. für "Vanity Fair") und eine erfahrene Biografin. Sie schrieb über die Kennedys, die Clintons, Princess Diana (1999) und 2012 über Queen Elizabeth. Auf jeden Fall zur Ergänzung der Diana-Literatur. (1) Harald Pilzer
