Am 28.02.1986 wurde der schwedische Ministerpräsident Olof Palme in Stockholm auf offener Straße erschossen. Während Mord und polizeiliche Ermittlungen bereits Gegenstand von Veröffentlichungen waren (T. Kanger: "Wer erschoß Olof Palme?", BA 7/89, und H. Holmér: "Tod in Stockholm", BA 7/89), fehlte eine umfassende Biografie, die auch Palmes politisches Wirken würdigt. Diese Lücke schließt dieser Band des Journalisten und Historikers Berggren in herausragender Weise. Er zeichnet die Stationen des aus bürgerlichem Hause stammenden Sozialdemokraten, der für viele Zeitgenossen die "Suche nach dem 3. Weg" verkörperte, vor dem Hintergrund der jeweiligen innen- und außenpolitischen Situation Schwedens nach. Palmes politisches Credo ("Freiheit, Gleichheit, Brüderlichkeit", Bejahung des technischen Fortschritts) führte dazu, dass viele Reformen im Nachkriegsschweden, die noch heute die Besonderheit des skandinavischen Landes ausmachen, unter seiner Regie durchgeführt wurden. So kann die Biografie auch als Geschichte Schwedens nach 1945 mit Gewinn gelesen werden! Einziges Manko: fehlende Zitatbelege. (1) (Claudia Bußjäger)
