Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) gilt als Erneuerer der Kunst im 20. Jahrhundert. In Malerei, Skulptur, Graphik und Keramik setzte er neue Massstäbe. Weniger bekannt ist sein Schaffen in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten seines Lebens, als Picasso von seiner Frau Jacqueline mehr Bildnisse schuf als je zuvor von einem anderen Modell. "Picasso. In bislang kaum publizierten Werken aus der Sammlung Jacqueline Picasso lässt sich nachvollziehen wie der Maler seine grundlegenden Themen weiterentwickelte: Akt, Portrait, Stierkampf und die Auseinandersetzung mit den Alten Meistern. Die Beiträge untersuchen die Reaktion Picassos auf die Pop Art, die Rolle der Musik im Spätwerk, die psychoanalytische Dimension von Picassos Verfahren und die Rezeption des späten Werks.
