Spitzensportler stehen wie kaum eine andere Personengruppe im Zentrum des Medieninteresses. Welche Rolle spielt die Medienberichterstattung für das Privatleben und die sportliche Leistung der Athleten, und können diese ihrerseits die Berichterstattung beeinflussen? Bislang gibt es nur wenige, meist auf Politiker bezogene Studien zur Erforschung reziproker Effekte der Massenmedien, d.h. der Wirkungen auf die Akteure der Berichterstattung. Die vorliegende empirische Studie entwirft ein differenziertes Bild von reziproken Medienwirkungen auf Sportler, die sich von denen in anderen Bereichen, z.B. in der Politik unterscheiden.
