Die Bundestagswahl 2017 markierte eine Zäsur in der Entwicklung des bundesdeutschen Parteiensystems: Mit der Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) zog erstmals seit den 1950er Jahren wieder eine in Teilen rechtsextreme Partei in das Parlament ein. Konnte sie sich etablieren? Welche Arbeit leistete sie in der Opposition? Welche Antworten fanden die konkurrierenden Akteure auf den Rechtspopulismus? Fedor Ruhose analysiert parlamentarische Funktion und Strategie der AfD-Bundestagsfraktion bis 2021. Er untersucht dafür ihre Debattenbeiträge und politischen Schwerpunktsetzungen, die stark von den Gegensätzen Provokation und Selbstverharmlosung geprägt waren. Zudem zeigt er auf, wie die AfD zum Sprachrohr von Emotionen ihrer Wähler und außerparlamentarischen Unterstützer wurde und wie sich dadurch das politische System der Bundesrepublik änderte.
