Der Titel passt perfekt. Marcus Urban, der ehemalige Fußballprofi von Rot-Weiß Erfurt, versteckte jahrelang seine homosexuellen Neigungen vor sich und seiner Umwelt. Sein Vorbild war Pele und wie dieser umdribbelte der schmächtige Fußballer seine Gegenspieler auf dem Platz, aber auch die Gedanken an seine Homosexualität. Mit Bestleistungen in der Schule und sportlichen Glanztaten auf dem Fußballfeld wurde er ein Meister der Verdrängung. Erst mit 23 gibt er als 1. und bisher einziger deutscher Profispieler sein Coming-out und verzichtet auf eine verheißungsvolle Karriere. Der nachdenkliche und mit wenig Selbstbewusstsein ausgestattete Urban erzählt dem Sportjournalisten Blaschke ("Im Schatten des Spiels", BA 7/07) ungeschminkt seinen schwierigen Weg. Eingestreut sind Exkurse u.a. zu Diskriminierungen im Fanblock, Sexismus im Frauenfußball, intoleranten DFB-Funktionären sowie Internet-Adressen von schwul-lesbischen Fanclubs und Sportvereinen. Die Veröffentlichung des schmalen Bandes hat bisher ein großes Presse-Echo hervorgerufen und gehört in jeden guten Bestand an Fußballliteratur. (1)
