Fêtes de Polymnie orchestra (1749) Ouverture G major
Content:
Since 2011, the radiant French soprano Sabine Devieilhe has risen to take her place as a superstar talent on the world's stages. Though her repertoire goes from the 17th century right up through to contemporary music, it was her performances of French baroque operatic works that first turned heads, and this concert of Rameau symphonies and solo arias captures the warm presence and immense talent that propelled her to the top. She is joined by the early music ensemble Les Ambassadeurs under the direction of the French flutist Alexis Kossenko, a virtuoso performer in his own right who alternates between the roles of conductor and fellow soloist over the course of the evening. Filmed live at Brugge's Concertgebouw, this jewel of a concert sweeps the listener away into Rameau's "grand theater of love"!
