Content: This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 15th IFIP WG 6.1 International Conference on Distributed Applications and Interoperable Systems, DAIS 2015, held as part of the 10th International Federated Conference on Distributed Computing Techniques, DisCoTec 2015, in Grenoble, France, in June 2015. The 14 full papers and 3 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 44 submissions. They deal with topics such as fault tolerance, privacy, resource management, social recommenders and cloud systems.
Note: Fluidify: Decentralized Overlay Deployment in a Multi-cloud World -- MERCi-MIsS: Should I Turn off My Servers? -- Fully Distributed Privacy Preserving Mini-batch Gradient Descent Learning -- Incentivising Resource Sharing in Federated Clouds -- Similitude: Decentralised Adaptation in Large-Scale P2P Recommenders -- Concise Server-Wide Causality Management for Eventually Consistent Data Stores -- X-Ray: Monitoring and Analysis of Distributed Database Queries -- Dynamic Message Processing and Transactional Memory in the Actor Model -- Heterogeneous Resource Selection for Arbitrary HPC Applications in the Cloud -- Practical Evaluation of Large Scale Applications -- Cheap and Cheerful: Trading Speed and Quality for Scalable Social-Recommenders -- Replication of Recovery Log — An Approach to Enhance SOA Reliability -- Leader Election Using NewSQL Database Systems -- Distributed Monitoring and Management of Exascale Systems in the Argo Project -- The Impact of Consistency on System Latency in Fault Tolerant Internet Computing -- A CRDT Supporting Selective Undo for Collaborative Text Editing -- Live Cloud Inspector: Towards Integrated IaaS Forensics in the Cloud.

Content: This book is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license. Technical Systems-of-Systems (SoS) – in the form of networked, independent constituent computing systems temporarily collaborating to achieve a well-defined objective – form the backbone of most of today’s infrastructure. The energy grid, most transportation systems, the global banking industry, the water-supply system, the military equipment, many embedded systems, and a great number more, strongly depend on systems-of-systems. The correct operation and continuous availability of these underlying systems-of-systems are fundamental for the functioning of our modern society. The 8 papers presented in this book document the main insights on Cyber-Physical System of Systems (CPSoSs) that were gained during the work in the FP7-610535 European Research Project AMADEOS (acronym for Architecture for Multi-criticality Agile Dependable Evolutionary Open System-of-Systems). It is the objective of this book to present, in a single consistent body, the foundational concepts and their relationships. These form a conceptual basis for the description and understanding of SoSs and go deeper in what we consider the characterizing and distinguishing elements of SoSs: time, emergence, evolution and dynamicity.
Note: Basic concepts on systems of systems -- interfaces in evolving cyber-physical systems-of-systems -- emergence in cyber-physical systems-of-systems (CPSOSS) -- AMADEOS sysml profile for SoS conceptual modeling -- AMADEOS framework and supporting tools -- time and resilient master clocks in cyber-physical systems -- managing dynamicity in SoS -- case study definition and implementation.
