Drei Beiträge zur Auseinandersetzung um die Kontrolle und die Transportwege des Erdöls bzw. Erdgases im und am Kaspischen Meer sowie Stand und Perspektiven der energiewirtschaftlichen Entwicklung Aserbaidschans, Kasachstans und Turkmenistans. Die westlichen Industrieländer erhoffen sich vom Zugang zu den neuen Quellen Unabhängigkeit vom Persischen Golf; für die zentralasiatischen Republiken sind die Erdöl- und Erdgasvorkommen die einzige Chance für wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung; Rußland versucht über den Energiesektor, seine "angestammte" Einflußsphäre zu erhalten und die Türkei sucht nach neuen politischen und wirtschaftlichen Einflußmöglichkeiten.
